MINERAL RESOURCES OVERVIEW

Sumitomo Canada’s Mineral Resources Unit includes investment, trading and marketing activities of non-ferrous metals including precious metals and base metals. Utilizing Sumitomo’s global network, we seek commodity and niche non-ferrous products from around the world to introduce and supply to other countries. One of our traditional businesses is to serve the North American miners seeking markets in Asia for their base metals and precious metal concentrates. We foster these alliances globally and forge new business relationships by increasing our role as a raw material exporter, as a supplier of mining consumables including reagents and grinding products, and as a provider of door-to-door logistics for raw materials. We strive to open new markets for specialty and niche raw materials. We also seek investment opportunity for mining development projects but also exploration stage projects to contribute to sustainable supply of mineral resources. One of our traditional functions is to provide competitive financing.
